After knocking the San Francisco 49ers out of the playoffs the previous year, head coach Kyle Shanahan is ready to lead his squad against the Dallas Cowboys in Week 5.
However, Trey Lance will be playing this time for the Cowboys, who have him on their roster.
Although Lance is not expected to play, Brian Schottenheimer, the offensive coordinator for Dallas, has stated that the team intends to leverage the quarterback’s familiarity with the Niners’ systems to come up with a strategy for Sunday’s matchup.

He said
“As much as most coaches can, I mean, you can see the plays on tape,” “You can explain what we look at and stuff like that, which usually you can when you can stack up a lot of tape over years and we’ve been here for a while. “Hopefully, he’s [Lance] talking to them all the time and making them focus totally on that instead of the simple stuff of watching the tape.”
After being designated the Niners’ third-string quarterback and being selected with the third overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft, Lance was traded to the Cowboys earlier this year. In Dallas, he will have the opportunity to restart his career, but he will also have to wait since he is only a third-string player there.
