According to rumors, the Chicago Bears are thinking about trading for Justin Fields to go through with their plan to tank for the next NFL Draft in the midst of their disastrous start to the season. It was earlier reported that Justin Fields was being looked at by Falcons.
This season in Chicago, things haven’t quite gone as expected. The Bears, who were widely believed to have “won the offseason” after giving up the first overall pick to the Carolina Panthers, have lost, leaving general manager Ryan Poles furious.
The general manager, like many others, anticipated that Fields’s breakthrough season and all of the offseason changes would make Chicago appear competitive in 2023. Instead, they have lost all five of their opening six games, ending any chance of qualifying for the playoffs.
Fields is questionable for Week 7’s game against the Las Vegas Raiders due to a thumb injury he suffered against the Minnesota Vikings in Week 6. The Bears may decide to deal their starting quarterback in light of their observations of his backup, Tyson Bagent, while his absence, according to the NFL Notifications account on X.

According to the account, the Bears are reportedly preparing to tank for the upcoming draft, which means that “a small firesale” might be on the horizon.
Things could become tricky, too, because Fields is believed to be worth more as a third-round selection than a second-round selection, even though the quarterback had played well in his final two games before getting hurt.
