A $100 Million Star and Former Two-Time Super Bowl Champion Is Considering an NFL Comeback

Not ready to hang up the helmet just yet is one of the best pass-rushers in the NFL of his generation.

According to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network, two-time Super Bowl winner Jason Pierre-Paul is trying to return to action and is even willing to join the practice squad of a rival team:

In 2022, Pierre-Paul signed a one-year contract with the Baltimore Ravens following a four-year tenure with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. In 14 games, Pierre-Paul recorded three sacks, one interception, and five pass defenses.

The three-time Pro Bowler recorded a career-high 16.5 sacks in the 2011 season, which helped the New York Giants win Super Bowl 46. With 9.5 sacks, six pass defenses, and four caused fumbles in 2020, the three-time Pro Bowler earned his second ring with the Bucs.

The 2021 season saw Pierre-Paul miss five games, which negatively impacted his output. He finished with just 2.5 sacks and one forced fumble. The Los Angeles Rams put a stop to the Bucs defense.

With his career honors and big-game experience, JPP would be a valuable addition to any postseason team. At this point in his career, Pierre-Paul isn’t a full-time starter, but he might at least be a valuable mentor and bench warmer.

Pierre-Paul has earned an incredible $103.692 million throughout his career, according to Spotrac. He received a $25 million two-year contract extension from the Bucs in 2020, which was his last major deal. The 34-year-old Pierre-Paul has 629 combined tackles for the duration of his career, along with 94.5 sacks, five interceptions, 66 pass defenses, 21 forced fumbles, and 10 fumble recoveries.
