DeSean Jackson Officially Retires From NFL

A superstar footballer who is one of the most captivating players in NFL history is retiring.

DeSean Jackson, one of the greatest deep threats in recent NFL history, has no intention of playing a 16th season. DeSean Jackson, a 15-year NFL veteran and wide receiver for the Eagles, will formally retire on Friday.

In addition to being named an honorary captain by the Eagles for their Sunday home game against the San Francisco 49ers, Jackson will officially retire on Friday. Jeffrey Lurie said in a statement,

“DeSean Jackson was a dynamic playmaker who captivated Eagles fans with his game-breaking speed, unique skill set, and explosive play,”  “What made DeSean truly stand out during his accomplished 15-year career was his ability to make miraculous plays look routine.”

As an Eagle, Jackson experienced the most success of his eight seasons. He became known as one of the game’s fastest wide receivers right away.

The most significant play in Jackson’s career occurred during the legendary “Miracle at the New Meadowlands,” in which, with no time left on the clock, he returned a punt for a touchdown that won the game.

With the Eagles, the three-time Pro Bowler caught 379 passes for 6,512 yards and 35 receiving touchdowns. For the team, he also recorded four punt return touchdowns. He finished four times as the NFL’s top receiver in terms of yards per reception during his career.

He caught 641 receptions for 11,263 yards and 58 receiving touchdowns in all. Jackson’s career postseason receiving yards increased to 364.
