According to ESPN’s Field Yates, the Vikings have apparently placed a claim on recently dismissed Patriots cornerback Jack Jones.
The Las Vegas Raiders, who had a higher priority in the waiver list, ultimately claimed Jones. Jones is reunited with Antonio Pierce, the defensive coordinator at his college and high school schools who most recently took over as Las Vegas’ temporary head coach.

Jones was chosen by New England from Arizona State in the fourth round of the 2022 draft. Jones had two interceptions, four pass breakups, and one forced fumble in his debut season.
With a hamstring injury, the 25-year-old corner was placed on injured reserve in Week 1, and since then, he has had difficulty playing. PFF reports that in four games this season, quarterbacks who throw to Jones have a 136.6 QB rating. This season, the second-year corner’s PFF coverage grade has dropped from 76.0 in his rookie year to 48.2.
In addition to adding Byron Murphy Jr. and selecting Mekhi Blackmon to complement second-year corners Andrew Booth Jr. and Akayleb Evans, Minnesota completely revamped its cornerback room this summer. Despite having the most interceptions this season, the Vikings have allowed the tenth-most passing yards.
On Sunday Night Football, Minnesota will play the Denver Broncos, who have the fourth worst passing attack in the league.
