Dave Portnoy, the Founder of Barstool Sports, Placed a Huge Bet Against an Unexpected NFL Team to Win the Super Bowl

Dave Portnoy, the creator of Barstool Sports, has made a sizable wager on one of the top AFC teams to win Super Bowl 58. Portnoy will get a bright seven-figure payoff if he wins.

With a chance to win $1 million, Portnoy has bet $67,000 on the Cincinnati Bengals to win Super Bowl 58. Additionally, he wagered $15k on the Bengals to defeat the Philadelphia Eagles in the championship game, which would have netted him $500,000.

You’ll see that the Chiefs, Eagles, Baltimore Ravens, and San Francisco 49ers—the last-place teams—are the favorites to win the Super Bowl. The Dallas Cowboys are even given greater championship chances than the Bengals by a few of sportsbooks.

The Bengals and Joe Burrow have faced the Chiefs on the road in back-to-back AFC Championship Games.

Cincinnati made a trip back to the AFC championship game last season, where they were defeated by Mahomes and company on a last-second field goal by Harrison Butker. Cincinnati had previously lost narrowly to the Los Angeles Rams in Super Bowl 56.

The Bengals, who have won four straight, undoubtedly appear to be a serious Super Bowl candidate. After dominating the San Francisco 49ers 31-17 away from home in Week 9, they defeated the Buffalo Bills 24-18 at home on Sunday night.

On Sunday afternoon, Cincinnati will play home to C.J. Stroud and the Houston Texans in an attempt to keep up the momentum.
