This has been the largest counterfeit bust in US history as a joint investigation by the Homeland Security Investigations agents and the NYPD “uncovered approximately 219,000 counterfeit items stored in units at Gotham Mini Storage”.
According to reports, the imitation “designer” merchandise is valued at a staggering $1.03 billion, and that makes it the largest in the history of the United States.
VladTV reports that;
The seized goods, including handbags, shoes, clothes, and accessories, were amassed between January and October.
The defendants face charges related to trafficking in counterfeit goods and could potentially receive a maximum prison sentence of 10 years if convicted. The operation reflects the authorities’ commitment to combating the significant impact of counterfeit goods on legitimate businesses, governments, and consumers.
With this operation successfully going down, the sales of fake handbags and shoes will be limited in the system.
