In Week 10, Monday Night Football included an appearance by Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes on ESPN’s ManningCast. He was definitely going to say something.
Former Chiefs quarterback Chad Henne shared a strange anecdote shortly after retiring after Super Bowl LVII: he said that Patrick Mahomes wears the same red underpants to every game.
Mahomes verified it when he appeared on ESPN’s “ManningCast” for the Broncos vs. Bills game.
“First, my wife Brittany got them for me, so I’m not throwing you all down, but I have to wear them,” Mahomes said. “At the same time, I threw them on that first season, we had a pretty good season that season.
“I only wear them for game day though, so they’re not too worn down, they’re not like these nasty (underwear), I clean them. I wash them every once in a while at least. I mean if we’re on a hot streak, I can’t wash them, you know? I’ve just got to keep it rolling. As long as we’re winning. I’ll keep the superstition going.”

Mahomes has won two MVP awards and two Super Bowls in his first six seasons in the NFL, so obviously it has worked.
He also has several kids, so his wife isn’t grossed off by the underwear thing.
