Gilbert Arenas Calls Out Shaquille O’Neal For ‘Putting Stephen Curry in Front’

Gilbert Arenas, the former NBA superstar, has called out Shaquille O’Neal for his recent comments about Stephen Curry. Shaq, known for his admiration of the Golden State Warriors’ sharpshooter, went a step further this time by claiming that Curry belongs in the Greatest of All Time (GOAT) conversation and even suggested that Curry has outshone him during his own Hall of Fame career.

Gilbert Arenas Challenges Shaquille O’Neal on Stephen Curry Comments

After the Warriors’ thrilling overtime victory against the Boston Celtics, where Curry’s 33-point performance was instrumental in securing the win, Shaq made his bold assertions. However, Arenas, among others, thought that Shaq was exaggerating the truth. During a recent Nightcap livestream, Arenas stated that Shaq was merely trying to be humble with his statements about Curry surpassing him.

Arenas highlighted Shaq’s dominant impact on the game during his prime. The former center, often referred to as The Big Aristotle, was so dominant that opposing teams drafted big guys solely to find a solution to guard him. He changed the game to such an extent that teams had to defend him from three sides.

Arenas believes that for Shaq to claim Curry has had a greater impact than him is an exaggeration and not entirely truthful. “When he says he’s putting Steph in front, I know he’s lying,” said Arenas, also known as Agent Zero.

For Arenas, the GOAT debate goes beyond the number of accolades one has accumulated throughout their career. He points out that even Michael Jordan was hailed as the GOAT when he had only won one championship. Instead, the discussion should focus on the magnitude of impact a player has had on basketball and the culture surrounding it.

LeBron James is the only player who has come close to challenging Jordan’s throne. Therefore, while Curry has undeniably changed the basketball landscape with his revolutionary three-point shooting, according to Arenas, he is still not a threat to the GOAT crown.

However, Gilbert Arenas, another NBA legend, has called out Shaq’s statements, believing that they are exaggerated and not entirely truthful. Arenas emphasizes the importance of a player’s impact on basketball and its culture when considering the GOAT debate.
