Maintaining peak performance for two decades in a physically demanding sport is a rare feat. It requires exceptional athleticism, and that’s exactly what Sachin Tendulkar achieved in cricket. Similarly, LeBron James continues to defy expectations in his 21st year in the NBA, showcasing his enduring talent. At 37, this superstar remains a dominant force, impressing both fans and fellow players alike. In fact, Boston Celtics icons Kevin Garnett and Paul Pierce recently expressed their admiration for James, in awe of his continued greatness.
Celtics Icons Amazed as LeBron James Continues to Shine in 21st NBA Season
Garnett, a former NBA champion and one of the most ferocious competitors of his era, went as far as to claim that even Michael Jordan never achieved the level of strength and impact that LBJ currently possesses. “Michael Jordan had it, he never had it like this,” Garnett said. “LeBron can probably stop the war right now … That’s how strong Bron is right now.” Such high praise from a renowned competitor like Garnett only adds to James’ legacy.

Paul Pierce, another Celtics legend and NBA champion, emphasized the significance of James’ career. He urged fans not to underestimate the impact that LeBron has had on the game. “Think about this: He’s in his 21st year. He can make 25 years,” Pierce said. “There’s gonna be more players that are gonna be playing because as we as athletes evolve, we’re getting stronger, better, longer. And so we’re gonna see more players playing 21 years, but for the simple fact that we haven’t seen anybody play 21 years at this level.“
Undoubtedly, James reigns supreme. While there is only one other player, Vince Carter, who has played professionally for 21 seasons, he falls far short in achievements, averaging significantly lower points, rebounds, and assists per game compared to James. Garnett, who played against James during his prime, expressed that he is not surprised by James’ current performance. He expected nothing less from the basketball phenom. “He’s invested in this, and I’ve actually expected him to look something like this,” Garnett said. “And then you know what he’s doing too? He’s putting the precedent; he’s putting the pressure on the KDs and everybody else because they gotta follow this.“
