If Jonathan Majors had any hope of redeeming his image through a court case, that hope was blown clean out of the water today when a jury of his peers found him guilty of assaulting and harassing his ex-girlfriend, Grace Jabbari. While Disney has yet to comment on the situation, it would seem very unlikely that they’ll stick with Majors following an official court verdict, misdemeanor or not. Disney CEO Bob Iger has been adamant about removing Disney from the social messaging system, but assaulting a woman has always been a line you don’t cross in sports and entertainment.
The charges levied against Majors won’t come with any serious time, he only faces up to a year in jail. Given his status and the fact that he’s a first-time offender, the judge will likely sentence him to therapy and some form of probation. The most severe consequences Majors will see will likely come from the studios with whom he has relationships and contracts, Disney being the most notable. If Disney was over the Kang character before today, it’s hard to see this verdict changing their minds.
The trial also didn’t help Majors’ image. Texts were released showing Majors acknowledging his actions and BSO Entertainment CEO/Founder Rob Littal texted me that day asking what I thought. We both agreed at the time that Majors had to be already isolated and kept on the outside of the Disney periphery, but now we’re absolutely both convinced he’s going to be fired sometime within the next 24-48 hours. The texts and this verdict are likely going to be the nail in his coffin.
Majors according to multiple sources, have been fired from Disney.
