Ron Rivera‘s position as head coach of the Washington Commanders has been decided, Dianna Russini of The Athletic reports.
According to a reliable NFL insider, Rivera has led the team to a 4-9 record that has them clinging onto the NFC East. However, he won’t have another chance to improve things under the new ownership in 2024.
Russini quotes sources within the team who allegedly informed her that Josh Harris, the team’s new owner, had knowledge that the head coach and his staff will be let go at the end of the current contract. She wrote,
“At this point it’s understood around the building based on multiple people I have spoken with that Ron Rivera and some front office members will be fired,” “Since acquiring the team, new owner Josh Harris has had the vision to keep Rivera in place through the end of the season, then move on. It’s really not a secret anymore.”

Not only is Rivera among the coaches who are projected to lose their jobs at the end of the season, but Bill Belichick of the New England Patriots is also probably going to be let go.
Russini added
“A similar picture is taking shape in New England, where most believe at the end of this season there will be a mutual parting of ways,”
