Taylor Swift Talks About Her Relationship With Travis Kelce and How He “Put Her on Blast”

Taylor Swift hasn’t said anything about her connection with Travis Kelce at this point, despite the singer’s repeated comments about it. This week, that all changed when the pop culture icon decided to make a small deviation during an interview following her Time Person of the Year announcement.

When discussing Kelce, Swift remarked, “We’re just proud of each other,” to Time’s Sam Lansky.

She also discussed how they first “hung out” and got to know one another following Kelce’s podcast mention of her.

The 33-year-old pop artist thanked the Chiefs tight end for “adorably” making her feel “on fire” in July when, during a Missouri Eras Tour stop, he attempted to give her his phone number but was unsuccessful.

She even referred to his podcast as “metal as hell” in her response.

She recalled, “We started hanging out right after that. So we actually had a significant amount of time that no one knew, which I’m grateful for, because we got to get to know each other.”

“By the time I went to that first game, we were a couple. I think some people think that they saw our first date at that game. We would never be psychotic enough to hard launch a first date.”

“I think some people think that they saw our first date at that game?” she added. “We would never be psychotic enough to hard launch a first date.

“When you say a relationship is public, that means I’m going to see him do what he loves, we’re showing up for each other, other people are there and we don’t care. The opposite of that is you have to go to an extreme amount of effort to make sure no one knows that you’re seeing someone. And we’re just proud of each other.”

Although many have referred to her as an Eagles fan for life, she recently made a comment implying that she hasn’t been following the team as closely as she should have over the years. The artist said that she has been “missing out on” football her entire life, which she believes to be a “awesome” sport.

Swift admitted to Lansky that she was unaware of how the TV cameras found her in the stadium or how frequently they ended up featuring her throughout the broadcast when it came to the games she had attended. She also knows that fans get upset when they see her so much.

“There’s a camera, like, a half-mile away, and you don’t know where it is, and you have no idea when the camera is putting you in the broadcast, so I don’t know if I’m being shown 17 times or once. … I’m just there to support Travis. I have no awareness of if I’m being shown too much and pissing off a few dads, Brads, and Chads.”

This season, Swift has attended five Chiefs games; the most recent one was on Sunday night at Lambeau Field. It marked the first time the defending Super Bowl champions were defeated in the stadium with the Grammy winner present, when Kansas City fell to the Green Bay Packers 27–19.
