The Chicago Bulls‘ head coach Billy Donovan provided a less than optimistic report on forward Patrick Williams’s health.
Williams has been out of the game for the past two weeks due to severe bone edema in his left foot. He will attempt to resume running and cutting shortly after the All-Star break, at which point he will undergo another evaluation.

The Bulls can very much count on this development to ensure that Williams won’t be ready right away when play gets back underway on February 22.
Williams Will Improve in Identifying When to Seek Medical Attention
The teenage forward seems determined to repeat his achievement of playing in all 82 games during the regular season last year. Donovan said,
“I think Patrick has got to get better at when he has ailments and issues, not that he’s not getting treatment, but sometimes – and I’m not saying that this was the issue (with the current left foot injury) – but he’s got to really make sure that he’s not taking himself to a point where he’s putting himself in harm’s way health-wise,”
Regarding Patrick Williams, Donovan said he doesn’t have discomfort walking and hope is at tail end of All-Star break that team can ramp him up with physical activity. It’s unlikely he’d play against Boston, the first game out of break. When he plays depends on how ramp up goes.

But there’s a thin line between tough and dumb, and Williams might have stepped over it.
Coach Donovan stressed how crucial it is to know when to get medical attention in order to avoid getting hurt again. Williams may have overexerted himself and disregarded his foot’s discomfort signals.
