The legendary Michael Jordan of Chicago Bulls rarely faces rejection, particularly when it comes to items that bear his inspiration. But this occurred when well-known designer Michael DiTullo neglected to provide His Airness a bag inspired by the Air Jordan 3.
Putting a bag through its paces
Legend has it that DiTullo created a bag that was modeled after the Air Jordan 3. Astonished, Nike officials ordered the production of 100,000 copies right away. That being said, His Airness noticed DiTullo experimenting with the bag and asked:
“I get the first one of everything, right?”
In response, DiTullo said he could not deliver the one he was carrying because it was already tattered and worn out from all the testing. MJ asked , “So, I can’t have the bag?” .
DiTullo replied, “I can’t. I’m not going to give you this one, it’s all messed up. I’ll give you like a good one.”

Michael Jordan insisted on having the bag
In true Jordan manner, the five-time MVP demanded to get his hands on the bag.
DiTullo recounted, “He’s like, ‘I can’t have that bag?’ and I was like, ‘Mike like it’s raining, it’s got my laptop in it, no you can’t have this bag.’ And he’s like, ‘So, you’re telling me I can’t have the bag with my own name on it?’”
“And at that point, I’m kind of committed, right so I’m like, ‘No, he can’t have this one,’ and he was just like unbelievable and walks back to the table.”
