Maxx Crosby Discloses New Details Regarding Knee Injuries

Maxx Crosby, a defensive end with the Las Vegas Raiders, missed nearly the whole 2023 season due to a knee injury.

Edge rusher Maxx Crosby of the Las Vegas Raiders, an All-Pro, had a terrific season in 2023–24, but it was also maybe his most taxing due to a serious knee injury that needed extra attention.

Even though the injury’s severity increased throughout the second part of the season, Crosby received some fresh information on January 17 when he had his most recent operation.

Maxx Crosby discusses his fitness issues

He disclosed the information during his podcast’s Monday episode, “The Rush With Maxx Crosby”. Crosby said,

“Basically explaining it, my bursae was destroyed and dismantled, so when I blew it up the first time, it’s like, OK, it could possibly heal if you get off it and whatever, but I played 16 straight weeks with it in practice and ran and all type of s—,”

“It just kept getting worse, and every game, I kept landing on it and it kept blowing up. So, obviously, it got infected at one point.

“It was just all types of f—– up. But the more you keep pounding on it, it’s like a compressor. So, it’s like getting a softball and smashing it, so it wasn’t just in my knee, it was going all the way down into my tibia. So I was feeling that pain, I had no idea that that was because of the bursae”.

According to Crosby, the most recent surgery, which was performed by renowned orthopedic surgeon Dr. Neal EllAttrache, took longer than expected—three hours—than expected.

Despite how painful the injury was, Crosby saw a bright side to the ordeal.

He said,

“It was a process, bro, and it honestly, it made me grow just as a competitor, as a leader, as a man,” “Like, knowing I could get through some hard s— and still come out and play my best every single Sunday, that’s honestly what I got, what I took from it.” “It gets me more excited to get this s— back, rolling, 100 percent, get the wheel 1,010 percent, so next year, I’m going to be flying even faster and playing at an even higher level.,” “So, I’m excited, bro.”
