Travis Kelce is a man who loves to give credit where its due. He did the same recently on a podcast with his brother.
The overtime period in Super Bowl LVIII, which saw the Kansas City Chiefs defeat the San Francisco 49ers 25–22, was one of the main plot points. Mic’d-up moments throughout the game and player remarks afterward suggested that the 49ers had no clear plan in place for overtime, while the Chiefs had.
Some understanding of the Chiefs’ current plan and its formulation has surfaced, almost a week after the game.
Mike Frazier, the Chiefs’ coordinator of statistical analysis, put out the plan for the overtime session, according to star tight end Travis Kelce, who shared this information on the New Heights podcast on Wednesday.
Kelce said,
“Every single week, we talked about overtime rules in the playoffs. Fraz was up front giving what we would do in all these scenarios. So, everybody on the team, like we knew exactly what the best situation was and how we were going to handle it, how we were going to attack it,”
The Kansas City Chiefs star continued, saying that the team was “second nature” to them because they were always reminded of the variations in the playoff overtime regulations.
The Chiefs should provide Frazier a boost because of how crucial it was to comprehend these regulations in the finish.
