According to reports, two people got shot while two gangs engaged in a bizarre shooting incident at the parking lot of McEachern High School.
Authorities say students were in their classrooms when the incident occurred at the parking lot with two people sustaining non-life-threatening injuries after the incident.
Harrowing footage showed the moment of the shooting as people walked through a parking lot before gunfire erupted. One person pulled out a gun and fired back as other rans.
The victims, not identified yet, are not enrolled students at McEachern High School, a spokesperson said.
‘This afternoon, and only moments ago, we can verify two individuals who are not current McEachern students have been shot in a parking lot on our campus,’ a statement from the school reads.
‘The campus is in code red, police are on campus, and for the safety of both students and staff, parents will not be allowed on campus, and buses will not run until the code red is lifted,’ the spokesperson added.
No student was shot as they are all fine and have been dismissed by the school authorities.
‘We have a serious and tragic incident. The good news is both victims are alive, and both appear that they will survive their wounds,’ said Cobb County Police chief Stuart Van Hooser at a press conference on Thursday.
‘We are still looking for suspects at this time. We don’t know if we have multiple shooters. We only know there were multiple people on site when the shooting occurred,’ he said.
‘I have the utmost confidence that they will refine that lookout and that they will help narrow the list of suspects down to something that’s manageable so that we can make everybody safe and get these folks in custody,’ he added.
It’s getting scarier these days in High schools as these gangs find no other place to engage in their shootings than around schools.
