The dismal and cruel end is nearing for Zach Wilson‘s tenure with the New York Jets. As if the 2023 season’s conclusion wasn’t enough of a giveaway, Zach Wilson, a former second-round choice, appears to be playing his final down with the New York Jets.
Jets general manager Joe Douglas revealed to media at the 2024 Scouting Combine that Wilson and his agent were free to pursue a trade this summer. Douglas said, “I’m going to circle back with Brian (his agent) to see how those conversations go,” “Other than that, there’s nothing else to report.”
Zach Wilson’s journey in NFL
In the 2021 NFL Draft, Wilson was selected as the first overall pick, however he did not perform well in any of his three seasons as a player. Since joining the NFL, his starter record of 12–21 is among the poorest in the league.
It is not shocking to learn that Wilson is permitted to pursue a trade by New York. But after months of unhappy stories from unnamed sources, this is the first time the Jets have officially said they would be willing to let go of their young quarterback. As early as November, reports indicated that the team would permit a trade and that the young quarterback, who had been benched, desired a change of scenery.
