This offseason, Chris Jones‘ future with the Kansas City Chiefs won’t be the subject of any drama.
As per Adam Schefter of ESPN, the veteran defensive tackle and the team have reached an agreement on a five-year, $95 million contract.
Chiefs and five-time Pro-Bowl DT Chris Jones reached agreement on a record 5-year deal that includes $95 million guaranteed and allows KC to keep its best defender before free agency begins, per his agents, @KatzBrosSports.

The surprise was spoilt by Jones almost a month ago. He made it clear during the team’s Super Bowl parade that he would be staying behind to support the Chiefs’ attempt to win three straight:

But when the initial excitement of winning a second straight Super Bowl faded and real contract talks started, it was unclear if he would follow through. He needed to take a more detached attitude to the matter given the large sum of money at stake.
