According to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network, former Vikings linebacker Troy Dye is inking a one-year contract with the Los Angeles Chargers.
According to Rapoport, Dye, 27, was desired by the Vikings to stay, but he will have a greater opportunity to establish himself in the defense with the Chargers.
Dye has been a member of the Vikings’ special teams squads for the majority of his four-year tenure.

Though he hasn’t played much defense, the Vikings’ eagerness to have him return indicates that they do think highly of him.
Despite only having 17 tackles the previous season, Dye did manage a forced fumble and a sack. With the Chargers, Dye will now have the opportunity to contribute more frequently.
