The Philadelphia Eagles have committed to greatness by securing standout wide receiver A.J. Brown for the long term.
Brown will receive $96 million in his new deal
The Eagles revealed a historic three-year contract deal worth an astounding $96 million on Thursday afternoon.
With this historic contract that offers $84 million in guaranteed income, Brown rises to the top of the NFL receiver ranks and becomes the highest-paid player in league history.
Brown’s agreement surpasses the previous marks set by Dolphins great Tyreek Hill and Lions standout Amon-Ra St. Brown, who each made about $30 million a season, with an average annual pay of $32 million.
Brown’s last four-year contract, which saw him earn about $25 million year after being traded from the Tennessee Titans to Philadelphia, was far less than this enormous agreement.
Eagles’ long-term plan of their best offensive weapon
Ever since he donned the Eagles uniform, Brown has displayed his extraordinary skill on the field.
His incredible season of 1,456 receiving yards and seven touchdowns last season cemented his place among the league’s top playmakers.
This outstanding performance follows his incredible 2022 season, in which he recorded a career-high 1,496 receiving yards and 11 touchdowns while leading the team to the Super Bowl.
Though the previous season ended with a dismal finish due to a late-season downturn and an early playoff loss, Brown has remained steadfast in his devotion to the Eagles organization.
In February, Brown addressed trade demands and rumors of dissatisfaction. He made it clear that he wanted to stay in Philadelphia permanently, citing his passion for the team and the culture of the locker room.
Brown’s contract extension guarantees his key involvement in the Eagles’ future aspirations until the 2029 season, marking a momentous step in the team’s heritage. Brown forms a fearsome tandem with quarterback Jalen Hurts, who recently signed a long-term contract of his own, that will likely rule the NFC East and beyond for many years to come.
