This time around, the NBA Finals may feature the legendary matchup between the Boston Celtics and Los Angeles Lakers. On the most recent episode of Undisputed, former NFL wide receiver Keyshawn Thompson made a prediction about the game while discussing the impending NBA playoffs.

Keyshawn Thompson went all in when he predicted, before the results of the play-in round, which teams would advance to the Conference Finals and the NBA Finals. After more than ten years, Thompson claims that viewers may finally get to witness a classic in the finals.

After that, Keyshawn stated that the Lakers and the Celtics would make it to the NBA Finals. He said,

“Celtics-Sixers in the East, I got the Celtics coming out, in about six, maybe seven. And then in the West, I got the Lakers, the obvious. And then imma take the Clippers.”

“Lakers to the Finals against the Celtics. And then I got the Lakers beat the Celtics in 7.”

Is Keyshawn Thompson right about the Lakers?

In the end, the former NFL player made a daring prognosis on live television that will undoubtedly be viewed as a “hot take” by many. First of all, while Thompson’s faith in the Lakers is admirable, it is important to remember that Los Angeles has dropped its last eight games versus the Denver Nuggets.

The Lakers shot above 45% from the field in each of their three games against the Nuggets during the previous regular season, yet they still lost all three. LeBron James and the team have three All-Stars on their roster, but they haven’t been able to overcome the Nuggets since they were swept in the Conference Finals the previous year.

However, Thompson projects that the Purple & Gold will prevail in a series that goes to Game 7 if LA manages to advance to the playoffs and play the Celtics. Even though LA shot more than 40% overall in both of their regular season games, they were unable to split the pair. Thus, anything might happen in the finals.
