This summer, LeBron James will have to make a significant choice regarding his future with the Los Angeles Lakers. The Lakers are halfway to spending the rest of the offseason on the sofa after two games into their playoff series with the Denver Nuggets, and moments like this one from Anthony Davis are making James’ decision feel more and more likely.

In the second quarter of the Lakers’ 101-99 defeat in Game 2, Christian Braun of the Nuggets was able to snag an offensive rebound near the end of the shot clock and put it back for two points since Davis was unable to box him out.
LeBron James’s response to AD’s shoddy play was captured on camera. AD is 32 pounds heavier and 4 inches taller than Braun. James moved away from his teammate in disgust and held his arms up in shock as he watched it happen from a few feet away.

Will this summer be LeBron’s last with the Lakers?
Although Los Angeles did not lose the game as a result of the play, they were able to blow a 20-point advantage they had with 10:00 remaining in the third quarter due to repeated instances of inattention.
Throughout the season, King James has shown indications that he is running out of patience with his Lakers teammates and head coach Darvin Ham.
The team’s closest moment to a championship since their “Bubble” title in 2020 was losing to the Nuggets in the Western Conference Finals the previous year.
James is getting closer to making a decision on whether to exercise his $51.4 million player option with the Lakers or hit free agency in search of one last chance to win a championship, or possibly a new opportunity to play one final season with whichever team drafts his son, Bronny James. A repeat of that sweep appears to be a real possibility in this year’s opening round of the NBA Playoffs.
