NBA point guard Rajon Rondo announced his official retirement on Tuesday. LeBron James, the star of the Los Angeles Lakers, showed his admiration for his former teammate.

Rondo played with James for two seasons in Los Angeles towards the end of his 16-year career, during which he helped the Lakers win the 2020 NBA title. Even though they didn’t play together for very long, James told reporters that he still has a lot of respect for Rondo. LeBron said,

“One of the best players I ever played with,” “Obviously, his IQ was out of this world. I was very lucky to get to team up with him… ‘Do always talked about if he ever teamed up with me, he knew we could win a championship. And we did that.”

Rondo and James were adversaries for a considerable amount of time as well. Rondo was a standout player for the Boston Celtics, who are likely James’ most formidable playoff rival, while James was a player for the Miami Heat and Cleveland Cavaliers.

Rondo was a four-time All-Star and two-time NBA champion. He used to be without a doubt one of the best point guards in the NBA, having won four All-Defensive selections and three assists records that led the league.

Now that he has the utmost respect from a legend like James, Rondo can finally enjoy his well-earned retirement.
