After their first OTAs, the Kansas City Chiefs‘ receiving corps is starting to show promise as a strong team. Speedsters Marquise “Hollywood” Brown and Xavier Worthy have been drawing attention, especially with reliable receivers like Travis Kelce and rookie Rashee Rice in the mix. But naturally, this newfound skill has led to comparisons to Tyreek Hill, the Chiefs’ previous game-changing wide receiver.

In discussing these similarities with Shannon Sharpe on the “Nightcap” podcast, NFL legend Chad Johnson provided a calm viewpoint. Although Johnson acknowledged that Brown and Worthy could duplicate Hill’s influence, he issued a warning not to ignore the “Cheetah’s” rarefied air.
“I love Hollywood Brown. I love Xavier Worthy. But they’re not Tyreek Hill. Now we’re just comparing the two because of the speed. There’s so many other variables that go into the game and playing the game of receiver. Tyreek can run short routes, he can run intermediate routes, he can go deep, he can run the entire tree.”
Even more, Chad Johnson praised Worthy, calling the rookie during his time at the University of Texas a “real deal.” He saw that with Brown and Worthy on the field, the Chiefs, who were already skilled at short-range passing, could unleash a wealth of possibilities in Reid’s offensive machine.
The seasoned wideout did, however, draw attention to the subtle differences that set Hill apart from his possible successors, most notably his unmatched ability to confuse defenses. Johnson also thinks that Brown and Worthy can help the Chiefs pursue an unprecedented third straight Super Bowl victory if they can completely understand the offensive genius of Andy Reid and Patrick Mahomes.
