Owner Dan Snyder put up his magnificent Potomac estate for $49 million on the market a few months before he gave the Commanders the keys. Though it started at a high price, the lack of interest caused the asking price to be lowered to $34.9 million before it was eventually withdrawn off the market. The American Cancer Society, which just chose to put the mansion back on the market, received the mansion as a kind donation, so it was all for a good purpose.
Dan Snyder decided to give the nonprofit his opulent mansion, and it has been exactly two months since then. Some even speculated that it might just be a tax write-off, but it didn’t get the desired response.
Ultimately, though, it’s still a kind donation to a worthy cause, and it might even bring in exactly the reduced asking price from the previous year for the American Cancer Society. Obviously, if all goes according to plan.
Cara Pearlman of Compass, the nonprofit’s listing agent, is adamant that the Potomac estate is a great deal for anyone willing to pay the same $34.9 asking price.
She mentioned, according to the Washingtonian: “The market is different from what it was in the third or fourth quarter (of last year). I think it’s stronger than it was,”
The 30,000-square-foot mansion, which has five bedroom suites overall, is a notable example of art. In addition, there is a manager’s home, a six-car garage, a kitchen, a gatehouse, and a guest house with two bedrooms.
Within the main home, there’s a 24-foot limestone fireplace, a chef’s kitchen, a spa, a club room, a wet bar, a gym, and views of the canal that will never fade.
For about $8.64 million in 2001, Dan Snyder bought what many consider to be a dream home. But as time went on, both the area and the cost increased. It will be the biggest donation the non-profit has ever received since its founding if the mansion is indeed purchased for the asking price. However, fans haven’t taken a shine to the former Commanders owner just yet.
