Kevin Garnett Demands “Bad Motherf***er Award…” For Anthony Edwards

In the NBA, talk about Anthony Edwards‘ explosive ascension this season has continued to happen off the court. As a result, Paul Pierce and Kevin Garnett recently focused their conversation on the 22-year-old. The latter went one step farther in the process, insisting that the league create an award to recognize Edwards’ efforts.

The 47-year-old discussed the presence of multiple players who have defined a game in the NBA in the most recent episode of Ticket and the Truth. Garnett so declared that he wants the NBA to honor those talismans.

“NBA need a BMF (Bad Motherf***er) Award…We got a couple of bad motherf***ers”.

Pierce emphasized Edwards as the front-runner for this award shortly afterward. Without missing a beat, KG used The Truth’s remarks to support his fellow panelist. The 2008 winner stated,

“Hands down. Absolutely. That’s what I’m saying. We need that type of award”.

The two then had a conversation to clarify the background of the award’s unlikely candidates. The NBA legends gave well-earned praise to Jalen Green, Joel Embiid, Jaylen Brown, Jalen Brunson, and Luka Dončić.

Even though their talk had a mocking undertone, this was a really great suggestion for the NBA. The league’s small number of award categories mean that many exceptional players go unnoticed each season. Doncic, for example, did not win any MVP this season despite his 33.9 points, 9.8 assists, and 9.2 rebounds per game [according to StatMuse]. Instead, Nikola Jokić won the honor.

The Jerry West Trophy was instituted in 2022 to honor the most reliable player during the regular season.
