Recent Coca-Cola 600 at Charlotte Motor Speedway had an unexpected appearance by NFL quarterback Lamar Jackson. According to rumors, the NFL standout from the Ravens attended the NASCAR race to cheer on the reigning champion, Ryan Blaney. Despite the fact that poor weather forced the race to be canceled, Lamar made headlines when he had an unexpected—and somewhat awkward—interview with a member of Daniel Suarez’s pit crew.

Most places that the two-time NFL MVP walks into are filled with superstars. That also applied to the Coca-Cola 600 event. It only sense, then, that crew members of several drivers would want to snap a photo and strike up a conversation with the NFL player.
The awkward handshake between Lamar Jackson and a pit crew member
Many crew members shook hands with the quarterback for the Ravens. But during Lamar’s conversation with Daniel Suarez’s group, an odd thing occurred.
Lamar shook hands with three pit members, then gave the fourth a side hug and an eons-long handshake. Aside from jokes, the awkward handshake continued for a few more minutes, going into an unusual place. Although it appeared as though the two were conversing, the fans found it strange that they were constantly shaking hands.
NFL fans reacted on social media as a result. The awkward handshake was the main topic of discussion in the initial fan response.

A few admirers also mentioned how the member of the pit crew would have been pleading for his hands to be free.

All in all, Lamar wasn’t unfamiliar with the pit crew member, even though the handshake did linger a little too long. It turns out that the member of the pit crew was Lamar’s college senior.
