Robert Saleh Talks About Tarik Cohen Calling Him “Explosive”

The news that former Chicago Bears running back Tarik Cohen has signed a one-year contract with the New York Jets was first reported by ESPN’s Adam Schefter earlier today. Jets supporters are perplexed by the revelation, as Cohen last participated in NFL action in 2020. Furthermore, injuries have played a big factor in his absence ever since. The confusion was short-lived, though, as Tarik’s signing was justified by his expertise and the new kickoff rules, according to Robert Saleh during a press conference today.

The customary running head start will no longer be allowed under the NFL’s new kickoff regulations, since the entire kicking team will now line up at the opponent’s 40-yard line.

As a result, this regulation adjustment emphasizes catching precision more.

Additionally, this regulation adjustment guards against player collisions. Given this new regulation, Tarik’s hiring makes a lot of sense because, according to the Bleacher Report, he recorded 71 receptions for 725 yards and five touchdowns in his lone Pro Bowl season.

Robert Saleh speaks about Tarik being explosive

Jets HC This was another important reason given by Robert Saleh for the Jets’ offer of a one-year contract to Cohen. Furthermore, Saleh believes the star running back will recover from his injuries because age is still on his favor. Saleh said,

“Tarik, explosive playmaker, is starting to get back healthy. With the new kickoff rules and these kick returners, they’re going to touch the ball over 100 times a year, which is significant. At least that’s what we’re anticipating. A guy like him, he’s still young. Obviously coming off his injuries, but we’re excited to have him aboard,”

After some excellent additions this off-season, Tarik is now the newest member of the New York Jets roster.

The Jets’ main issue from the previous season was their ongoing injury problem. Thus, the defensive plan will benefit greatly from the re-signing of tackle Morgan Moses, who is renowned for his ability to avoid injuries. The Jets’ preseason acquisition of two-time Pro Bowler Haason Reddick from the Eagles was another crucial defensive choice. The signing of Tarik Cohen has garnered the most attention among the major moves.

Saleh acknowledged that the decision is highly risky and is mostly driven by a change in the rules. As a result, fans reacted to the intriguing deal and shared their opinions on social media.
