Before the 2024 Draft even started, Shedeur Sanders was being discussed as a potential first-round selection in the 2025 Draft. Given that he has previously played three seasons, Shedeur might have declared for the draft this year, even if he will be returning to Colorado to establish himself one again. What would have been his chances if he had?
According to The Wahington Post, if Shedeur had entered the draft this year, an NFL general manager believes he may have been selected third overall behind Caleb Williams and Drake Maye at quarterback.
He would have thus most likely been selected by the Patriots, Giants, or Cardinals. “Many NFL scouts agree the Colorado quarterback is right below Williams and Maye,” according to ESPN last year.
Sanders had a strong season last year, throwing for 3230 yards and 27 touchdowns while only being intercepted three times, despite Colorado’s 4-8 record. Sanders needs to improve his performance and stats while playing behind the O-Line in order to possibly win the Heisman Trophy.
However, scouts’ evaluation of him isn’t shared by fans. Given his four wins in the previous season, fans claimed he would be a massive bust in the NFL; it is ludicrous to think Sanders would have been selected in the first round this year.
REPORT: Had #Colorado QB Sheduar Sanders declared for this years draft he would’ve been up there with Caleb Williams and Jayden Daniels, according to an NFL GM.
