On and off the court, Angel Reese is known for his copious talkativeness. Her instant effect as a player in the WNBA can be attributed to her personality. She does, however, occasionally go too far.
This happened earlier this month when Reese was called for two technical fouls in a row after “disrespectfully” addressing referee Charles Watson during the Chicago Sky’s game against the New York Liberty. Although the league ultimately decided to revoke the second technical, the damage had already been done.
The WNBA is fining Angel Reese for technical fouls
Reese now has three technicals for the season, even if that second one won’t count toward her total either. Her next gadget will set her back $400, per WNBA regulations.
- Technical Fouls 1-3: $200
- Technical Fouls 4-6: $400
- Technical Fouls 7+: $800
Though it may not seem like much, WNBA players’ pay isn’t particularly high when compared to those in other sports leagues. Reese receives a substantial amount of outside funding from sponsors, but money is money.
Reese may sacrifice who she is and what brought her to this point if she were to soften her playstyle and persona in an attempt to avoid losing out on additional money. She won’t be letting up anytime soon.
