As Jalen Hurts’s “95 Percent” Remarks About the Eagles’ Offense Make Headlines, Nick Sirianni Speaks Up

The Philly Eagles‘ decline from prominence as Super Bowl contenders in 2022 to their failure to go past the Wild Card stage in 2023 served as a wake-up call. The Eagles have made the decision to alter their offensive approach in light of the significant decline.

Kellen Moore and Nick Sirianni have altered the offense in ways that have even confused Jalen Hurts into altering his methods. The quarterback even shared his adjustment to the changes in a widely shared statement.

Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni felt it appropriate to respond to the same claim in a press conference open to the public.

In a news conference, Sirianni disclosed that, as a club looking to improve this season, the coaching staff was experimenting with current plays to find better patterns. Furthermore, he said that although these modifications may appear novel, it all comes down to perception.

“I think some of it is [new] you know. There’s new concepts obviously, and there’s new ways to think about a play. But then within older concepts of what we’ve done in the past, he might have a new responsibility within that play right and so that’s new to him.”

In all respect, though, the Eagles require these adjustments, and Srianni even praised Hurts for his superb adaptation to them.

Following their run to the Super Bowl in 2022, everyone anticipated that the Eagles would at the very least advance to the NFC Championship Game. But when they suffered a devastating 32-9 loss to Tampa Bay in the Wild Card round, their hopes of reaching the promised land were dashed.

The Eagles needed to recover inventively after such a dismal finish, and it appears that Kellen Moore, the new offensive coordinator, has been working toward just that.
