In order to wrap off their search for a head coach, the Los Angeles Lakers have hired JJ Redick to a four-year contract, as Adrian Wojnarowski disclosed yesterday. The former NBA player has finally landed his big break as the Lakers’ head coach after weeks of controversy. But, Redick still has a lot of work ahead of him, so in Brian Windhorst’s opinion, landing the Lakers job was the least of his troubles.
Windhorst recently discussed Redick’s initial challenges and how he can overcome them on ESPN’s SportsCenter.
Redick’s tenure is already off to a wonderful start, according to the 46-year-old, because he has gained the respect of his team’s biggest star. LeBron James supporting him and his ideas, according to Windy, will enable him carry out his objectives successfully.

Furthermore, Redick is extremely excited to be in this role and is ready to take on the high-risk, high-reward task.
As stated by Windhorst,
“It’s [finding head coach] is not the most important thing the Lakers are going to do this month. What they do with their roster, how they address the holes in their team, that’s what’s gonna give JJ Redick a chance.”
“They’ve got to find some defensive wing players, otherwise, I don’t care who is coaching them, they’re gonna struggle,”
Additionally, he made the point that the Lakers must select players who would strengthen their defense with their draft selections. Windy even made a comparison between Redick’s initial coaching position and Joe Mazzulla’s position with the Celtics.
