Caitlin Clark and Angel Reese have been portrayed as rivals. The media claimed that Angel Reese’s “you can’t see me” remark was directed at the Iowa guard. Although Clark maintains that it’s simply two fierce competitors going up against each other.
Prior to their third game of the 2024 WNBA season and their fifth matchup in career, Clark played down the idea that she and Reese are rivals.

The Indiana Fever guard emphasized that she has no animosity toward the Chicago Sky star. Regarding facing the center, Clark responded,
“I’m pretty sure the only people that view this as a rivalry is all of you (journalists). For us, it’s just a game of basketball. That’s what it is. If it’s gonna help move the game forward, absolutely. That’s amazing. People could talk about it… I think the two prior matchups really lived up to what everybody expected and [were] really just great basketball games, honestly.”
The excitement around Clark’s third matchup with Reese this season hasn’t diminished in the slightest, even though she has attempted to minimize the rivalry. The cost of tickets for the Fever’s game against Sky on Sunday in Chicago has broken previous WNBA records. At $253, the average get-in price is the highest it has ever been in league history.
It’s easy to understand why fans are willing to pay an unprecedented amount to witness it live given what happened in their prior two meetings.
