CJ Stroud Fearlessly Addresses Cultural Problems That Continue to Affect the Black Community

Despite being only 22 years old, CJ Stroud doesn’t let that stop him from discussing the subjects he is passionate about. He has frequently discussed the flaws in the American jail system and how it unfairly targets Black people. But this time, he spoke candidly about issues he saw as facing his own culture and went a little closer to home.

In an interview with Millions Dollaz Worth Pod, the young quarterback discussed his experience returning home after succeeding in the major leagues.

CJ Stroud spoke about peer pressure in black community

Talking about his journey into the NFL, he said,

“People put their expectations on you, like now that we made it, come home…It’s come to a point where like if you don’t go it’s ‘oh he’s changed up, he weird now…I feel like as a culture that’s a problem we internally have…bag on those or start roasting those or doing uncalled for stuff, gossiping… now you feel peer pressure to go.”

Stroud talks on how his extended family back home pressures him to travel home frequently, but his career at Texans prevents him from doing so. But he claims that things don’t end there; if he ceases to visit, people will begin slandering him and saying hurtful things about him, alleging that his fame has affected him.

The show’s hosts and Stroud discussed this subject and discussed how their experiences with it were comparable. Even if they would want to see their family more frequently, they are unable to do so and cannot also take care of their extended family. This causes resentment among family members to develop, beginning with gossip.
