It Might Not Be Permitted for Mike Tyson to Face Jake Paul

Iron The former undisputed heavyweight champion Mike Tyson may not be allowed to face Jake Paul on November 15 if he fails stringent medical examinations. Health issues forced the original date of the match to be rescheduled.

The 58-year-old was scheduled to fight The Problem Child on July 20 at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, but Paul claims they promised to have the same amount of training time, but he and Netflix decided to postpone the fight until the winter due to a stomach ulcer.

Now, though, it might still not happen because Tyson needs to clear stringent medical exams to demonstrate that he is strong enough to fight a man who is nearly thirty years his junior. This is because the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation (TDLR) wants to make sure Tyson won’t be harmed.

According to Tela Mange, Head of Communications for the TDLR, Tyson must have positive findings from electroencephalogram (EEG) and electrocardiogram (EKG) testing in order to be allowed into the ring in November. Mange said,

“At this point, the fight remains an eight-round contest over two-minute rounds with 14-ounce gloves,”. “As I think I’ve said before, the Department will stay informed about the health of the combatants and will obtain more information if needed to protect their health and safety.”

Although having a license to fight is a positive thing, the TDLR also stated that Tyson may still not be allowed to fight on the night if they don’t think he is safe enough after pre-fight checks.

Paul is also subject to the same rules.

Mike Tyson is prepared to battle

Tyson will be fighting for the first time professionally since he practically retired from the sport on his stool after a battle against Kevin McBride in 2005. Tyson last competed in an exhibition match against Roy Jones Jr. in 2020 during the Covid-19 pandemic.

It followed a knockout loss to Danny Williams, when he looked like a shell of his former self near the conclusion of his career. However, 19 years later, he feels prepared and feels he can do well against Paul. Tyson said,

“Although we had to postpone the fight, I will resume training shortly,”. “I am thankful to the medical staff that treated me and to MVP, Netflix, and AT&T Stadium for working diligently to find the best rescheduled date for all parties.

“While we have a new date, the result will be the same no matter when we fight. Jake Paul is getting knocked out.”
