The Broncos quarterback rivalry continues with another off-season. There’s been fierce competition in the Denver quarterback room ever since Peyton Manning retired following the team’s victory in Super Bowl 50. Since Manning’s retirement, the Broncos have had 13 starting quarterbacks. And 2024 won’t be any different, with Zach Wilson, Jarrett Stidham, and Bo Nix. If stories about Bo Nix, the Draft No. 12 pick, are accurate, there are several reasons why he has an advantage over Wilson, who has experience, and Stidham, who is still young.
Recently, NFL analyst James Palmer discussed why the odds favor the No. 10 quarterback for the Broncos.
NFL Analyst reveals Peyton Manning’s support
Speaking on Friday at the Up & Adams Show, Palmer said that considering the “worst QB room” the Broncos have ever seen, Nix might be the front-runner.
Palmer further argued that due of Nix’s exceptional talent, former Broncos great Peyton Manning supports Nix’s starting position. The NFL Journalist claims that the main reason for this is that he believes rookie quarterbacks, who appear to put in more effort than other players, will succeed in their first season. Palmer continues, “Sean Payton also seems to favor Nix in his rookie year.”
“He is in that building all the time. He believes playing as a rookie is huge. Yes, he set the rookie-interception record that he’d like some rookie QB to break this year. But he thinks that experience for Bo Nix would be big. He thinks this is a great fit for Nix.”
Even with Manning and the Broncos HC’s support, there is another trend in the Broncos QB room that will probably make the front office’s decision-making process more difficult in 2024.
