Despite losing in the first round of the playoffs, superstar Nikola Jokic of the Nuggets is not out of the woods. One of Jokic’s best friends in the NBA, Luka Doncic, and the Dallas Mavericks have won the Western Conference and will play in the NBA Finals. Jokic wants his closest friend to make it to the NBA Finals in 2023, even if this will be Doncic’s first time there. The Joker bids the 25-year-old Mavs player luck in making it to the NBA Finals in a recently discovered tape.

Jeremy Nicolls shared a video from the 2023 All-Star media day on X.

Jokic was asked which team, should the Nuggets miss out on qualifying, he would like to see win the Finals during his interview with the reporters. As the Joker put it,

“If we don’t make it, I mean Luka of course because he’s my… really good friend.”
Jokic nearly referred to Luka as his best buddy for a brief period of time before calling him a “good friend”.

The NBA’s most expressive player, Jokic, isn’t unknown to the fans. Whether he’s winning an NBA Championship or losing a game, the Serbian never lets his poker face show. It makes sense that he would be hesitant to refer to Luka as his best friend, yet the two of them have a really strong friendship. The Mavs star didn’t make it to the playoffs, and Jokic emerged victorious despite his friend’s best intentions.

But this year, things are going a little differently with the screenplay. Luka advanced to the Finals, but Jokic was eliminated in the Semifinals. Jokes about Luka “avenging” Jokic by winning against the team that eliminated his Nuggets are also popular among fans. Apart from that, the Mavericks have dominated several of the top teams in the postseason to secure a berth in the Finals, demonstrating their tremendous lethality thus far. Given how well Luka and Kyrie Irving are currently dominating the NBA, perhaps Jokic’s desires will come true this time.
