One of the greatest rivalries in football history was between Peyton Manning and Tom Brady. But even away from the field, the two were always quite respectful of one another and enjoyed one other’s company. Manning would therefore undoubtedly be present to provide a nostalgic look back at their playing days when Brady was inducted into the Patriots Hall of Fame.
The story of their early career, which brilliantly captured the ferocious yet loving character of their relationship, threw the former Broncos legend into a deep state of nostalgia.
After the 2009 season, Manning spoke about the two off-season days he and Tom Brady spent together, as well as how they kept a few high school students in the dark about their off-field meeting. He said,
“We played golf together, we lifted weights together, we threw routes together with these high school receivers. We took their phones away, we said ‘If you tell anybody that Tom Brady and I are working out together and that we’re friends. We’re going to kill all of you.’”

This covert training session tells volumes about the intensity that drove these two competitors whose names have become synonymous with greatness and their own arms race. They set aside their egos and engaged in a constant challenge to push one other to the limits of their trade in an almost obsessive pursuit of brilliance.
Brady won nine of their twelve regular-season matchups against one another. With three victories in five postseason matchups, Manning prevailed. Brady and Manning‘s relationship, however, was stronger than the rivalry that raged between the white lines.
