Following a sad vehicle accident on Saturday, Khyree Jackson, a promising young cornerback, passed away, leaving the Minnesota Vikings and the football community in mourning. The Vikings had selected Jackson, who was only 24 years old, in the fourth round of the 2024 NFL Draft.
Upper Marlboro, Maryland, Jackson’s hometown, was the scene of the accident. Along with companions Anthony Lytton and Isaiah Hazel, he was driving a maroon Dodge Charger when it crashed with two other cars.
According to Maryland State Police, the Charger was hit by a silver Infiniti that was trying to change lanes quickly. The Charger was forced into a Chevy Impala in this incident, and it then swerved off the road and struck some trees.
Khyree Jackson was declared dead on the scene
When emergency personnel got to the scene, they declared Jackson and Hazel dead. After being taken to a nearby hospital, Lytton passed away from his wounds.
Thankfully, nobody else was hurt in the collision. The drivers who are still alive are not yet facing any charges; the inquiry is still ongoing. The NFL career of Khyree Jackson was only getting started. He was chosen by the Minnesota Vikings 108th overall, and his abilities and commitment had pleased many.
Jackson had given Kwesi Adofo-Mensah, the general manager of the Vikings, assurances during their pre-draft talks that he was committed. Jackson played two seasons at Alabama before moving to Oregon, where he had a breakout year, and then signed with the Vikings.
