Here is the King’s decision. James has decided to rejoin the Lakers on a two-year deal worth a maximum of $104 million, as reported by ESPN. There is supposedly a player option and a no-trade clause in the new contract.
One week after his oldest son Bronny James was chosen by the Lakers with the 55th overall pick in the NBA draft, he made the decision to re-sign. Being on the same squad will make them the first father and son to play in the league simultaneously.
After six seasons with the Lakers, James recently finished with a career-high 41 percent shooting percentage from three-point range.
The all-time top scorer continues to play at a very high level despite having played in the NBA for an incredible 21 seasons.
In addition, the Lakers recruited JJ Redick, James’ close buddy and former podcast co-host who left the NBA in 2021 after Darvin Ham was fired after two seasons.
“It will be my son and me in my final year,” James told the Athletic in 2022.
