Linebacker DeMarvion Overshown of the Dallas Cowboys was recently targeted by an exaggerated fan on social media. The issue started after a Cowboys reporter posted pictures of DeMarvion during media day wearing his new number 13 jersey. The title of the post implied that the second-year player was ready to “feel this season.”
Suddenly, a fan chose to make fun of the linebacker by saying, “Bro doing all this…better make some plays,” in a since-deleted tweet. Not one to take unwarranted criticism lying down, DeMarvion answered back with a level-headed, “Doing all what? Like everyone else that day, I attended media day.”
Doing all what? I went to media day like everybody else that day🤣

The conversation continued after that. Another fan of the Cowboys leapt to the linebacker’s defense:
“Like the plays he was making before an injury robbed him of his rookie season? Yea, I’m gonna say Overshown is gonna be alright.”
However, Sevon Lewis, the critic, went even farther, calling DeMarvion’s preseason showing inconsequential and drawing negative comparisons to well-known players like Roquan Smith.
Bro made 3 good plays against 2s and 3s in the preseason last year and yall acting like bro is Roquan Smith … be serious https://t.co/DeWWB2ljbB

The severe scrutiny that NFL players—especially those donning the iconic colors of America’s Team—face was brought to light by this back-and-forth. To his credit, after his initial response, DeMarvion decided not to pursue the conversation. It appears like the rookie linebacker realized that his on-field performance will be the best way to dispel doubters.
