If you tuned into the MLB All-Star Game this year, you may have noticed a somewhat controversial moment during the pre-game festivities. Country singer Ingrid Andress took the stage to perform the national anthem, and let’s just say it didn’t go over too well with fans.
From the very first note, it was clear that something was off. Andress’ rendition of “The Star-Spangled Banner” was pitchy, off-key, and just downright cringeworthy. It was almost as if she was trying to do her best Fergie impression from the disastrous NBA All-Star Game anthem back in 2018.
As soon as Andress finished her performance, fans took to social media to express their dissatisfaction. Twitter was ablaze with comments, with many calling it the worst national anthem they had ever heard at a sporting event. Some even went as far as to say that it was an insult to the country and the game itself.
The 2024 Home Run Derby is taking place Monday night at Globe Life Field in Arlington, Texas, and like every other sporting event in the country, we had to hear the National Anthem.
Four-time Grammy nominee and country singer Ingrid Andress was brought out to do it, and she bombed it in spectacular fashion.
Ingrid Andress has seen better days, and tonight was not one of them.
Pray for her mental health, as someone should advise her to stay away from social media for a few days.
For those who are unaware, Ingrid is a four-time Grammy-nominated singer best known for hits like “More Hearts Than Mine,” “The Stranger,” and “Wishful Drinking,” according to Wikipedia.
Ingrid Andress may have struck out with her rendition of the national anthem, but at least she can take solace in the fact that she has solidified her place in the Hall of Fame for the worst anthem performances of all time. Let’s just hope she can redeem herself at her next public appearance.
