The loss of Klay Thompson to the Mavs is hurting even former Golden State Warriors players. Two-time team All-Star Baron Davis recently expressed his emotions in a sit-down with fellow Dubs supporter Draymond Green.
Speaking on the end of the Warriors dynasty, Davis also shared his feelings about Thompson leaving San Francisco.
Baron Davis compares Klay Thompson’s departure with Kobe Bryant
The 45-year-old was disappointed to see Klay leave the Bay Area because he had watched the shooting guard for the Dubs grow into a legendary player right before his eyes. Davis then said to Green,
“I hate to see it [Klay’s departure] because y’all was babies. It’s similar to how we feel about Kobe here in LA. Because you watch y’all go from young men to men, to superstars, to like legends.”
For the duration of his career, Kobe Bryant was a member of the Lakers. And Klay nearly followed suit, taking home four championships along the way. As a result, Davis believes that the loss of Thompson causes LA fans to experience the same kind of grief that Kobe’s retirement caused. In addition, the former star of the Warriors stated that he prefers Klay as a player to a Warriors player.

He is therefore happy that the four-time NBA Champion took a choice that will ultimately advance his career. Davis also encourages him in his endeavor. Nonetheless, Davis requests that Thompson receive a suitable farewell gift from the Dubs organization. The former Bruins player even offered to helm the final documentary about the Dubs No. 11.
