In the midst of the required minicamp, Aaron Rodgers at last gave an explanation for his vacation to Egypt. The quarterback disclosed that the “mandatory” exercise was actually an OTA posing as a minicamp. He thus scheduled his vacation appropriately. Regretfully, the Super Bowl champion’s every word these days elicits controversy, and it’s safe to say that nobody is pleased with the Jets quarterback’s justification, not even among supporters or pundits like Shannon Sharpe.
In the most recent episode of Nightcap, Shannon called Aaron Rodgers’ excuses into question and confronted him about them.

The QB’s statement horrified the commentator, who pointed out that Rodgers only needs to check to find out that his training camp is mandatory. Sharpe believed that Rodgers was only fooling around and manipulating his words at this point. He said,
“We can go back and look it up and I guarantee you the last-minute Camp was mandatory from the time they set the offseason schedule. But somehow, he [Aaron Rodgers] thinks he slick, but you know what… you can’t be slick to a can of oil – that’s me… He likes to parse words, he likes to play semantics, plays word game…”
The former NFL player told his accomplice Ocho that if Rodgers had given a different explanation, Carolina would have been at odds with the quarterback. The star was so dissatisfied with Rodgers’ reasoning. He said,
“It would have rubbed me the wrong way. He and I would have butt head, no questions about it.”
Co-host Ocho expressed similar disappointment with Aaron Rodgers’ remarks, thinking that given the Jets’ faith in him, he ought to have performed better.
