Analyst Blasts Absence of Aaron Rodgers, Raises Concerns About Future

Aaron Rodgers appears to be recovering from a torn Achilles tendon sustained during his Jets debut almost a year ago. The quarterback declared he wouldn’t play in their final preseason game against the Giants after sitting out the team’s first two exhibition games. Chris Russo expressed his annoyance with their choice on First Take.

The pundit questioned the Jets’ reasoning for benching Aaron Rodgers during the preseason. He pointed out that other quarterbacks who had injuries that ended their seasons the previous year gained experience in the preseason to clear their heads.

Analyst talks about Aaron Rodgers’s future

In light of the upcoming season, he wondered if the team was withholding the quarterback’s level of fitness. Russo stated:

“I don’t like that. I don’t why you can’t play him. If Anthony Richardson can play, Daniel Jones played last week. He hasn’t played in 18 months. What are they afraid of? They put him out for a couple of minutes against the Panthers. Have him play a series or two. I don’t see what the problem is.”

When questioned if the team was holding Aaron Rodgers back to prevent injuries, Jets head coach Robert Saleh replied in the negative. He disregarded such reasoning, arguing that players could sustain injuries during practice as well.

His self-preparation led him to decide to restrict the amount of preseason playing time for his starters. He thinks they won’t gain much from playing a few snaps in the preseason in Week 1.

The Jets, like last year, have a competitive club on paper and had a successful offseason. They have given Rodgers additional weapons and improved their offensive line.

Brett Favre is optimistic that the quarterback might lead the team to a Super Bowl victory, despite it being unclear how he would perform following his extended absence.
