L’Jarius Sneed, who led the Chiefs to consecutive Super Bowl victories, is starting a new chapter as the defensive coordinator for the Tennessee Titans. He hasn’t lost his fire, though, simply because he switched jerseys.
Sneed immediately mentioned Ja’Marr Chase on the Pivot Podcast when asked who he would like to see in a fierce on-field match. The wide receiver for the Bengals is a star, and the CB is eager to take him on. However, this has a personal component that makes Sneed prepared to turn up the heat; it’s not just about competition.
L’Jarius Sneed talks about facing Ja’Marr Chase
Sneed stated clearly that while he respects Chase, there is rivalry when asked which receiver he has a genuine beef with:
“If there’s one dude I see, it’s on sight, it’s gotta be Ja’Marr Chase. We both from the boot, and I respect his game. But when we get on the field, it’s all about that competition.”
During the KC vs. Bengals Week 17 battle last season, the WR and the CB got into a violent argument, and Chase was given an unnecessary roughness penalty.
Prior to the game, Chase engaged in some nasty comments. Sneed covered him on 61.8% of his routes and limited him to only 3 catches for 41 yards. The rivalry between the two teams appears to have carried over into the current campaign, and Sneed is prepared to show that he can defeat Chase even in an offense with far less potency.
The wide receiver’s animosity for Chase has followed him from Kansas to Tennessee, but he still harbors animosity toward the Chiefs.
