Dak Prescott isn’t overly concerned about the prospect of leaving America’s Team, according to recent events, as his contract dispute with the Dallas Cowboys continues to play out. Interestingly, as Prescott gets ready for the new season, he doesn’t seem to be thinking much about these contract negotiations. Prescott, though, might become a free agent in the upcoming offseason if Dallas is unable to reach a deal.
Prescott is nearing the end of his $160 million, four-year contract that he inked with the Cowboys in 2021. Analyst Nick Wright of Fox Sports has entered the fray of conjecture, making the following prediction:
“Dak Prescott’s next deal is going to be for around 65 million dollars a year and the first three years of it are going to be 100% guaranteed.”
How important is it for Cowboys to tie down Dak Prescott ?
Wright speculated that Prescott may choose free agency if the Cowboys didn’t make a $200 million, three-year offer. Wright remained steadfast in his conviction, even if co-host Kevin Wildes questioned the 17–18% raise over the highest-paid players at the moment.
“The Cowboys are not going to pay Dak $65M/yr and bc of that he’s going to hit free agency. This will be Dak’s last year in Dallas bc he’s this close to a contract that people can’t fathom what it’s going to be.”

He brought up the fact that quarterbacks like Joe Burrow, Trevor Lawrence, and Jordan Love just inked mega-contracts that were negotiated with years remaining on their original agreements. “Dak is going to have the entire world bidding for him,” in comparison.
Wright’s opinion comes down to one basic fact: Prescott needs to be offered enough to stay in Dallas rather than exploring his options as a free agency.
