There has already been a flurry of debates and comparisons since Caleb Williams made his Bears debut. Williams’ preseason trick plays against the Cincinnati Bengals pleased a lot of people, and Tyreek Hill’s interesting tweet regarding the rookie’s charisma has prompted conversations about how much Williams and Patrick Mahomes are alike.
According to Hill’s tweet: “Caleb Williams so nice he remind me of ……,”
Stephen A. Smith’s take on Caleb Williams
On “First Take,” Stephen A. Smith said that although many people took Hill’s tweet to mean Mahomes, he actually saw more characteristics of Josh Allen in Williams. According to Stephen ,
“I don’t think Tyreek Hill was talking about Patrick Mahomes,” “I’m saying it’s more like Josh Allen.”
The message caused fans to respond differently, with some even suggesting that the Cheetah recognized characteristics of Tua Tagovailoa in Caleb.
However, comparing Williams to well-established league players is far too early. Shannon Sharpe said that although he showed some encouraging preseason flashes, he still has a long way to go before he can play at the same level as Allen or Mahomes.
Sharpe pointed out that although Mahomes and Williams may not have the same physical attributes—Mahomes is between 6’2 and 6’3 inches tall, while Williams is closer to 6’1 inches—they do exhibit some striking similarities.
Additionally, Sharpe noted that both quarterbacks have a talent for producing plays while moving:
“Patrick Mahomes is not 6’4″, 6’5″—he’s probably around 6’2″ or 6’3″. Caleb Williams is probably around 6’1″, so there’s a similarity in their build.” “Both have strong enough arms to make plays outside of the pocket, within the pocket, and can change arm angles. You’ve seen Patrick Mahomes go left, run right, and then turn around and throw the pass. Caleb Williams has a similar ability to create plays in unconventional ways.”
